Announcements for Sunday, July 30.

       The Daughters of the King

Sunday is the last day to contribute to the Back to School Backpack Give Away through Respond Now.  We are seeking contributions of folders and wide-ruled spiral notebooks for the backpacks.  Please contact Cyndie Knoll if you have questions or need more information.  Collection boxes are provided in the atrium lobby.

Call out for St. John's pictures!
We would like to continue the tradition of having pictures of life at St. John's, but we need everyone's help!  Whenever you see a good photo opportunity at St. John's (special event, holidays, good hair day), please pull out your phone or camera, take some pictures and email them to Anne Edwards.  Anne manages the FaceBook page for the parish, so she will either post them or save them for the Parish.  And, if you haven't already, please like "St. John the Evangelist, Flossmoor."

Announcements for July 23

LAST CALL: Interfaith Picnic is this Sunday, July 23                                                                       For those of you who already RSVP'd, thanks!  For those of you who missed the deadline, but would still like to attend, no worries.  Please come anyway.  We'll make room.  As you hopefully know now, St. John's recently joined the SouthWest InterFaith Team (SWIFT), which promotes harmony and joint community service among the three Abrahamic faiths: Christianity, Judaism and Islam.  Our first opportunity to participate in a SWIFT event is this Sunday, July 23, from 1-5 pm, at Peace Memorial Church UCC, in Palos Park (10300 West 131st St.).  The annual picnic is for families from all member congregations.  Fun and food for all ages will be provided, from BBQ, desserts, and soft drinks to balloons, a bouncy house, piñata, and even a clown. Embrace this opportunity to share faithful fellowship with your Jewish, Muslim, and Christian neighbors!  Questions?  Contact our own Rob McManamy or Bryan Burke.  For more about SWIFT, go to www.swiftinterfaith.org, or visit the group's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SWIFT-South-West-Interfaith-Team.

Search Committee
The vestry has prayerfully chosen and approved the search committee for our new rector. Tracie Moxley and Donna Blackburn will serve as co-chairs. Bill Bestow, Glynis Keene, Jayne Goode, Tom Senesac, Eric Turnquest, Anne Edwards, and Stuart Creason will serve on the committee with them. We will commission the search committee at our worship services on Sunday, July 30th.
The Vestry wishes to thank everyone who expressed an interest to serve on the search committee. Even though you may not have been selected to serve on the committee, we will be reaching out to everyone, especially the youth of our church, to be involved in this process.  Please continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide them in this process.

Ice Cream Social
A big thank you to everyone who participated in the Ice Cream Social by scooping ice cream, cutting watermelon, setting up tents and tables, arranging flowers, making and pouring lemonade and iced tea, serving ice cream, lemonade and iced tea, grilling hotdogs, selling food, helping the balloon ladies, greeting the community, attending, cleaning up, donating to the entertainment and most importantly praying for good weather.  The weather was glorious and attendance was good. This event would not work as well if all of you didn’t support it. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
