Air Conditioning Update
Southwest Mechanical came to inspect the Air Conditioning problems in the church. The one AC roof unit on the east transept is dead. The one AC roof unit on the west transept is still functioning. So we now have 50% cooling functioning in the church. The air handlers (blowers) are still both working. The plan now is for Southwest Mechanical to present us with possible proposals to correct the problem and get us back to 100% cooling in the church.

Sam & Theresa Otoo
With your help, the vestry is setting up a special monetary fund to help Sam and Theresa Otoo and their family. Members who would like to contribute can do so by sending checks made out to The Church of St. John with "Sam and Theresa Otoo" on the memo line, or dropping off checks/cash to the church office. People can also place checks made out the same way in the Collection Plate this Sunday. All cash donations in the Collection Plate this Sunday, August 12th, will be donated to Sam and Theresa. You can also reach out to them personally to offer assistance and your support.

Jeannine Brattstrom
Candice Barrera’s mother, Jeannine Brattstrom, went to God early Sunday morning, August 5th. Services will be at St. Andrews Methodist Church next Sunday August 12 with Visitation from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and a Funeral Service at 4:00pm. May she rest in peace.

An Update from the Search Committee…
We have narrowed our search down to 2 wonderfully qualified candidates.  We can tell you both are men. Here's what will happen next:

 1.     The search committee will discern one candidate to present to the vestry.
2.     The vestry votes on whether to approve the candidate.
3.     The wardens call the bishop to inform him of our choice.
4.     The bishop calls his counterpart in the candidate’s diocese as  a final step in the vetting process.
5.     The wardens call the candidate and offer the position.
6.     The candidate discerns whether it is the right fit for him and hopefully accepts.
7.     The rector is announced to the parish!!

Everything prior to step #7 is confidential. The search committee and vestry cannot discuss any specifics until our new rector is confirmed. The process will probably take 2 to 6 weeks. (The bishop is on vacation in August which may delay everything slightly.)

We are excited and will let you know as soon as we know. Thank you for your patience and please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will guide our hearts and minds in these final steps in our search.
