- Children’s Sunday School Classes Resume this Sunday
Sunday School classes for children resume this Sunday, January 8, following the Christmas break. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m.
- Adult Class: Exploring the Catechism
The Living Faithfully adult class begins a new class this Sunday. What does it mean to be created in the image of God? Who is the Holy Spirit? What does the Episcopal Church really teach about the Sacraments? The class will be both lecture and discussion. Please bring your Bible. The class is appropriate for both life-long Episcopalians and newcomers as well. It meets in Classroom 4 in the Education Wing beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays.
- Recycle Your Live Christmas Tree
Undecorated, live Christmas trees can be recycled January 7 and 14 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Irons Oaks (Vollmer Road just west of Western Avenue). Recycling keeps trees out of the landfill and the mulch will be used at Irons Oaks.
- Job Search Network Workshop
The InterFaith Job Search Network is hosting a special workshop next Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 6- 8pm at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Park Forest. Entitled "How To Write A Successful Cover Letter," the program will be led by retired corporate trainer Phyllis Bacon, who has run a weekly job club at St. Irenaeus since 2004. Admission is free and, if time allows, you can also have your individual resumes critiqued by an expert at no charge. The church is located at the corner of Orchard and Indianwood in Park Forest. - Faith in Films: De-Lovely
Faith in Films gathers Friday, January 13, to view De-Lovely, a musical portrait of American composer Cole Porter. The film is filled with Porter’s music and brings to light “Porter’s elegant, excessive past—including his deeply complicated relationship with his wife and muse, Linda Lee Porter.” Stars Kevin Kline, Ashley Judd and Jonathan Pryce. Meet in the Guild Room at 7:00 p.m.
- Offering Envelopes
Offering Envelopes for 2012 are available for pick up in the undercroft. Envelopes that are not picked up will be mailed soon.
- 2011 Contributions
The “books” for 2011 will remain open through January 8. Contributions clearly marked 2011 will be posted to 2011 statements. All others will be posted to 2012.
