Reflection for March 3

If your eye gets plucked out in this life, will it be waiting up in heaven with your wife (Crash Test Dummies, “God Shuffled His Feet.”)?

If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be thrown into hell (Matthew 5:29).

I believe, to be sure, that any man who reaches Heaven will find that what he abandoned (even in plucking out his right eye) has not been lost: that the kernel of what he was really seeking even in his most depraved wishes will be there, beyond expectation, waiting for him in ‘the High Countries.’ (C.
